Reason: Another reason for this site to bring attention to the adoption regulations in this country, and the point of view of the African American community. It is a well known fact that African Americans, as a whole, rarely adopt. Many feel that they would rather have their own children. Thus this leaves many African American children to either be left in the system or adopted by families outside of their race. This has caused lots of controversy in the Black community. Also, the well publicized adoptions of African children to celebrities like Madonna and Angelina Jolie.
Rebuttal: An opposing view to this is argument is that some would argue that many African Americans are not financially stable enough to adopt children, considering many African American parents are single mothers, and that this is a reason for the low numbers. Others have pointed out that adoption regulations are sometimes difficult for them to fulfill. Even though, African Americans don't, as a whole adopt, some of them feel that it is wrong for them to be adopted by White families.
Refutation: Though the argument of the financial stability of African Americans may have some merit. Many African Americans have made it clear that they don't "believe" in adoption. I have heard several African Americans say that in my experience. The argument about race will be discussed heavily, on this site. This idea is so "old fashioned." We are a part of a new millennium and a new way of doing things. Modern families look different now, and adoption should be no exception.
