Argument~ Reason 1

Reason 1: Many people in our country are ignorant to the social problems that are presently affecting our country. One of these problems is the child care system. Though our system is operable; there are still so many youth that have been forgotten about. There are thousands of children that slip through the cracks of the system. Children who have lost their belongings and family heirlooms in transition from home to home. Children who are mistreated by their foster parents.

Rebuttal: An opposing view to this argument is that a child care system of any kind will never be perfect. Therefore what we have in this country is just fine. Case workers do what they can any more effort is pointless, because the system will never be perfect. We should be able to accept the system we have because its better than many other countries.

Refutation: Though it is true that the Foster Care System and adoption regulations will never be perfect. We should strive for "better than..." not "good enough." There are so many improvements that can be made and I believe that if we become more involved and more informed there is more that we can do about this situation. The cavalier attitude that we are better than other countries is what is holding this effort back. The sooner that we realize that we have the power to change things ourselves the better the Foster System will be and the better this country will be.
